This section is devoted to my collection of brooches by Lea Stein.

Lea Stein was born in Paris in 1931. She married Fernand Steinberger in the 1950's - who was a chemist and created the celluloid laminate used to make the amazing jewellery and items designed by Lea Stein. She originally worked for Cocoa Chanel before starting production of her own in 1969, producing brooches, rings, bangles, necklaces, earrings, combs, jewellery boxes, picture frames, buttons and accessories. She stopped production in 1981 but due to popular demand re-opened again a few years later. Each brooch is signed, Lea Stein, Paris and has the V-shaped safety clasp. Due to the manufacturing process that is used, each brooch is different and individual. These items are now extremely collectible, and although not made during the deco years, are considered very deco in style.

Cat & Ball Brooch
Measures 2.75 inches wide (7cm). Signed on the safety V clasp. In good condition. Can be viewed in the Lea book on page 48, first produced in the 1990's.

Fox Brooch and Earrings Set by Lea Stein
This is a rare fox with matching clip on earrings set. Brooch fitted with a V safety clasp and signed. Can be viewed in the book pages 42/43.

Lea Stein Necklace
Rare 1st edition pearlised blue necklace, made by Lea Stein in the 1960's. An early piece so unsigned but guaranteed genuine. It measures 15.5 inches (39cm) from clasp to clasp. Condition is very good.

Carmen by Lea Stein
This brooch is called Carmen, in red and yellow celluloid, otherwise known as Joan Crawford. She measures 2 inches high and over 2 inches (5cm) wide, and is signed on the V clasp. This is my favourite Lea Stein. These were made from 1968 to 1980 and are getting more difficult to obtain, and are therefore very collectible. Similar item can be viewed in the Lea Stein book on page 25. Excellent condition.
