Judith by Goldscheider
A large terracotta Bohemian lady warrior measuring 25.5 inches (64cm) tall with a 7.5 inch (19cm) diameter base. This piece is marked Goldscheider to the under/inside and probably dates from about 1900. Unsigned but I believe by the artist 'E. Tell' Exhibited for Arthur Goldscheider in Rue Paradis. The condition is excellent with only slight minor ageing to the patina as one would expect.

Ref: F628 . . . £1,250

Pretty Nouveau Figure
This is a lovely little figure entitled 'CIGALE' of a young maiden with a mandolin in bronzed spelter. Condition is good, some wear to original highlighted finish. Approx. height 6.5 inches (16.5cm)

Ref: F1039 . . . £340

Art Nouveau Spelter Sculpture
Another fine French spelter nouveau piece depicting a young girl at a well. Some original coloured patina is still visible including green vegetation and gold patinated dress and other coloured details to the fish well-head. This all sits on a stepped white striated black marble base. The original purpose of this piece I should imagine was for dried flowers as it has an internal metal lining which isn't waterproof. Condition is good-original, although the base appears to have some gouges at one end of the back. Size: 12 inches high, 8.5 inches wide and 6.5 inches deep.

Beautiful Art Nouveau Lady by Julien Causse
A stunning, bronze patinated spelter lady mandolin player by the French sculptor Causse. She stands nearly 2 feet tall on a shaped base of verdigris marble which bears the plaque which reads 'La Musique - Par J. Causse (Beaux-Arts 1900)' - No doubt about the date then! She is also signed in the metal and includes some musical notation inscribed in the stand on which she rests her foot. Please email me for close-ups. She is naked except for a cloth miraculously draped over her thigh and she is holding a mandolin which appears to have its original strings attached. She has a beautiful face (and body), and she is well built in the typical nouveau style, with a large bust, hips etc. and her hair is up in a bun with a delightful wreath in her hair, with some original highlighting to the patina in gold and silver still visible. This piece is stunning and in almost perfect condition with just a few very minor scuffs here and there. I have taken lots of close-up pics, and will be happy to send them on request. A picture of this same figure can be viewed in the Berman book of Bronzes, Vol 4 page 1078, item no 4301. Julien Causse - Born at Bourges, worked 1890 - 1914, studied in Paris under Falguiere and exhibited at The Salon des Artists Francais in the 1890s, obtaining honourable mentions in 1882 and 1900 and a third class medal in 1893. He also took part in the exposition Universelle of 1900 and specialised in small figures.

Avril par J. Causse
Another stunner from the prolific Causse. She is titled Avril (April) and is a bronzed spelter lady sitting on a crescent moon admiring a rose. The base is a lovely stepped and shaped Sienna red marble socle and bears a plaque showing the title and sculptor. She is also signed in the metal. She still shows signs of the original highlighting in gold and silver in places and is in exceptional condition with no apparent damage or repairs etc, and with just a few minor nibbles to the underside corners of the base. She is 24 inches tall, 9 inches deep and 7 inches wide and stunning! Many more pics available on request.

Bronze Lady by Phillipe
A French gilt bronze figure, of exceptional quality, modelled as a pretty lady in an elaborately decorated dress with painted enamel flowers and lace. She is standing on a stepped verdigris marble base and measures approximately 11 inches high. The base bears the engraved signature of P. Phillipe and the condition is excellent.

Cipriani Pierrot Figure
Large pierrot signed 'Cipriani' and entitled 'La Serenade'. This is a plaster piece although you would have difficultly believing it. He is very large, and has lovely features, good bronzed patina and nice detailing. Marked to rear of base j b paris , 313. and signed Cipriani to rear of figure. Condition is good, some minor chips (as usual) there is a line across left hand only, but it does not appear to have been a repair.
Approx. height 24 inches (60cm)

Ref: FDS112 . . . £475

Art Nouveau Bust
A French patinated terracotta bust of a maiden by the Paris born artist George Charles Coudray, circa. 1910 who exhibited at the salon from 1883 - 1903. Signed to the base and with the L'art Francais stamp, numbered and with the Decar Garanti Veritable stamp. Unfortunately there is no Goldscheider stamp so maybe this piece was made before he worked for Goldscheider. She measures approximately 15.5 inches high (40cm) and 11 inches (28cm) wide. Condition is good for her age, but with a repaired chip to the back of the base and a few age related marks here and there.
