Theatrical Group Photo by Walery
An original Folies Bergere photograph of a theatrical performance in the 1920s. I have been lucky enough to have found a collection of old original French art deco theatrical photos dating to the 1920s - 1930s. This is an official original photo by Walery and it is certified with a stamp to the back - Photographie Walery. He was an official photographer for the Folies Bergere. This photograph shows a group of ladies dancing in top hats and tails and some in frilly costumes doing the high kick. The backdrop shows a pair of art deco ladies. Note the orchestra in the pits. The photo measures 9.25 inches by 7 inches (23.5cm x 17.5cm). It is in very good condition although in a darker sepia tint. Excellent for framing. Email me for more pics quoting the ref number.

Unique signed Photograph of Pol Rab
An original signed photograph of Pol Rab holding Ric and Rac, probably unique and dated 1930. This is an original photograph stamped with the copyright mark of Germaine Krull, Paris. In Paris between 1926 and 1928, Krull became friends with Sonia Delaunay, Robert Delaunay, Eli Lotar, Andre Malraux, Colette, Jean Cocteau, Andre Gide and others, her commercial work consisted of fashion photography, nudes, and portraits. It measures approximately 5 inches (13cm) by 7.5 inches (19cm) and is in good original condition.
Rab, Pol (Paul Abraham 1898 - 1933) French artist and cartoonist. Before his untimely death at the age of 35 at Barbizon, he was elected president of the mois de 30 ans, an artistic society for artists under the age of thirty. He was an extremely talented artist and humorous illustrator who created the famous Ric and Rac terriers cartoon series. Many art deco items were produced with the Ric and Rac theme - desk sets, cocktail sticks, cigarette cases, bookends, photo frames, brooches, ashtrays, advertising ornaments for Lux hoovers and even a boot polish. Pol Rab also created Nenufar which was an African themed cartoon. Paul Brach in 1934, said of him that 'all that he did, he did well and with verve'. He was a great friend of Jean Cocteau. He is also did designs for theatrical magazines and programmes, bars and restaurant menus, which always very comical and Ric and Rac was very saucy for the period. Even Lea Stein produced a brooch of Ric the terrier.

Condition is vintage but good, although there is some dirt to the inside of the glass and one small chip to the frame which barely visible. 'Trinkende' The Drinker by Seifert
The largest version of this lovely bronze nude by Victor Heinrich Seifert a German sculptor. This one mounted on a circular stepped marble base and measuring approximately 27 inches (68cm) high and the base marble socle has a diameter of 8 inches (20cm). This statue was produced from around 1905 and was made in the 3 sizes (I also own the two other sizes of her). It is signed to the bronze Prof. V. H. Seifert. Similar piece can be seen in the Berman book vol 1 on page 26/27. Seifert was born in 1870 in Austria and died in 1953. See my info on artists section. This statue is in good vintage condition but there are two chips to the edge of the marble socle to the back where it meets the bronze socle. Email me for more pictures if required.
