French ceramic flacon bottle with pull out head stopper.

During the 1920s in France there was a race held between waiters known as the course des Garcons de cafe (cafe boys race).

This flacon was designed by Georges Bastard to commemorate the race.

Signed Hugo to the side of the boot.

Signed underneath F. Bastard editor Paris Made in France.

There were some other ones of the same Bastard design which are just marked Germany or Goebel under the base. I believe Goebel may have produced some for Bastard and went on to create some for themselves as well. Perhaps a touch of Plagiarism? I have seen the golfer and the waiter with the german stamp.

Good condition.

9.5 inches (24cm) high.
