The bottle retains an old label when it went under auction at Christies.

Very good condition.

I suspect this item would clean up incredibly well but we only did two test areas with soapy water and a disposable ear bud. The area we cleaned are circled in the last image.

]]> 96634 Commemorative Decanter https://sheryls-artdeco.com/product/commemorative-decanter/ Wed, 27 Sep 2023 10:06:55 +0000 https://sheryls-artdeco.com/?post_type=product&p=95111 We believe this to be a commemorative decanter or water jug for a 100 year anniversary, possibly marking a century since the first fax machine (or “image telegraph” as it was known at the time) was shown at the Great Exhibition of 1851 in London.

The image etched into the glass shows one man (L) watching a flying bird while the second man (R) looks towards what we believe to be a fax machine.

Below both men is a date mark from 1851 to 1951.

9.5 inches (23.5cm) high, 4.25 inches (11cm) diameter.

The glasses appear to be martini glasses in style but they are quite small (see sizes below).

The glasses measure 4 inches (10.5cm) high, 2 inches (5cm) diameter.

The decanter measures 8.25 inches (21cm) high.

Very good condition with no noted chips to the glass.
