A large onyx jar with the bronze snake is the lamp shade.
Rewired in silk flex and in good working order.
Another sample of work by Mirval can be viewed in Bryan Catley’s book Art Deco and Other Figures, p231.
19 inches (48cm) long, 6.5 inches (16cm) deep, 13 inches (33cm) high.
In very good vintage condition.
CLAUDE MIRVAL: late 19th – early 20th century sculptor active in the art deco years – only made bronze and chryselephantine and some rare terracottas. His works generally seem to reach much higher than estimated prices at auction.
