Car Mascot by John Hassall

Policeman car mascot by John Hassall.
Rare 1917 English Policeman car mascot made by and signed Hassall. Silvered bronze with a pottery head. The artist Hassall created him, and called it – not surprisingly – ‘Robert’. Robert could be made to change position by tilting the head and helmet. Distributed through Smith’s Motor Accessories it was marketed as ‘the funniest mascot on the market’. He also made an airplane with a pilot which had the same head.

In good vintage used condition.

4.5 inches (11.5cm) high.
