We believe this to be a commemorative decanter or water jug for a 100 year anniversary, possibly marking a century since the first fax machine (or “image telegraph” as it was known at the time) was shown at the Great Exhibition of 1851 in London.
The image etched into the glass shows one man (L) watching a flying bird while the second man (R) looks towards what we believe to be a fax machine.
Below both men is a date mark from 1851 to 1951.
9.5 inches (23.5cm) high, 4.25 inches (11cm) diameter.
Very good condition.
