American gold metal basket weave bag with phenolic tortoise shell lid and lucite handle. I believe made by Dorset Rex but no label (which often fall off) in the late 1940’s – early 1950’s. It bears an indistinct shop stamp to the interior – Barret Fifth Avenue. The catch is the typical Dorset Rex S and hook type with a safety chain.
It measures 9.5 inches (24cm) long, 4 inches (10cm) deep and 6 inches (15cm) high and 10 inches to the top of the handle (25cm).
Condition is good with a few minor age marks and slight fading to the inner lining as one would expect.
