French Buffet – Christian Krass

A fabulous French art deco solid Rio Palisander (Brazilian Rosewood) buffet by Christian Krass of Lyon, (1868 – 1957), onetime apprentice of Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann. With ebonised base and polished metal leg covers. The end drawers (4) and outer side cupboard doors (2) open sideways. An additional double cupboard section and single door cupboard section are centrally positioned. A much admired piece of architectural cabinetry.

It measures a large 80 inches (203cm) long, 24 inches (61cm) deep and 40 inches high (102cm).

Condition is very good with just two scratch marks to the front top edge.

Although we are unable to search for a signature/stamp due to the size and weight of the piece, we have been assured that it is by Krass as a dealer friend of ours has the smaller version of this cabinet which is signed.

Temporary picture.
