Mercury by Gilbert Bayes

A plaster art deco panel of Mercury by Gilbert Bayes. This is the original moquette made by Gilbert Bayes for the bronze panel taken from the Royal Doulton building on the South Bank of London – sadly now demolished.

We originally owned the bronze panel but alas as it was too heavy for our walls and so we sold it on a few years ago.

I then found this panel which is the original plaster moquette made by Bayes to make a mould for the bronze version which I believe hung over the lift shaft in the Royal Doulton building. This one is much lighter and it came via the family of Bayes.
