Rare hand painted ceramic Art Deco strawberry liquor flacon (bottle).
Painted as a male waiter holding a bottle – and signed Hugo to the side of one shoe.
There is some writing on the base which isn’t easy to translate but we believe it says “Fraise d’On” Chissay (lou et Cher) which translates to “Strawberry from On” which may have been a business which commissioned the piece. Chissay may refer to the area Chissay-en-Touraine (south west of Paris) and presumably Lou and Cher are the original owners.
11 inches (28cm) high.
Condition is very good.
