Very rare set of pink phenolic dish plates made in the late 1930s/1940s by UDA plastics and signed UDA to the back and Modern Stylists, made in England.
To the fronts is a stylised mermaid sitting on waves in a clamshell, she has very long wavy hair and there is seaweed detail.
The large oval platter measures 11.5 inches (29cm) x 9 inches (23cm) and six matching side plates are each 6 inches inches (15cm) diameter.
In barely used condition and a full set of 7.
A set sold in Christies, South Kensington, 19 March 1993 (Lot 593).
I have another 5 piece pink set also available.
