This French Art Deco bronze is by Demetre Chiparus (1886 – 1947).
A rare 1920s piece, with a top quality casting by the Master of Art Deco statues, signed to the bronze.
She sits mounted on a stepped onyx base.
A similar one can be seen in Chiparus book by Alberto Shayo on page 183.
I believe made in 2 sizes the larger one is 70cm long – see final picture below of this one next to the larger version (which I have for sale at time of writing. See B800).
This is the rarer smaller version and measures 21.5 inches (54cm) wide, 15 inches (38cm) high, 7.5 inches (18cm) deep.
Very good condition.
