The Captured Bird Table Lamp by Goldscheider

A rare hand painted art deco ceramic dancer statue as a table lamp – Often seen as a statue but rarely as a table lamp.

Designed by Josef Lorenzl in 1922 and inspired by the stage dancer Niddy Impekoven who danced wearing a costume with butterly wings

Titled – gerfangener vogel (captured bird).

Model number 5230, it can be seen as a statue in the Goldscheider book on page 403 and in the Onu book on page 118.

Marked under the base with Goldscheider Wien and signed Lorenzl.

The lamp comes complete with its original shade (a rare thing) which needless to say over the period of time is a little aged and stained and some of the silk wing panels are aged.

The height of the figure is 17.5 inches (45cm) high.

Condition is very good.
