EXCITING Lindsey B Exclusive

In partnership with Lindsey B herself, Sheryl’s Art Deco has worked to produce three previously unreleased sailor busts which Lindsey originally sculpted in 1979.

Professionally moulded in silicone and fibreglass moulds and cast in solid Jesmonite for greater strength, these busts have been beautifully hand painted and finished by a moulder selected by Lindsey. Each bust is signed “Lindsey B” to the rear and comes with an individual hand signed certificate of authenticity by both Lindsey B and myself.

These busts have never been put into commercial production; Lindsey has explained to us that things move very quickly in the design world which is why she tends not to look back on old projects but having spotted the busts hidden under her work bench in Lindsey’s studio, covered in a layer of dust, Sheryl began discussions with Lindsey about putting these items into production as they are very deco, stunning and desirable.

There are three separate models; two ladies and one male. Each with a different design and detailing. More busts will be painted although each will likely differ slightly. We have collected three busts from the painters at time of writing which we have photographed for this blog and are making available for purchase today. Twelve are still being finished and will be added to our website when they become available. All busts are sold individually and cost £1,495 each.

The models are…

Coral: She measures 11.5 inches (29cm) high and weighs 7.05 kgs.

Sam: He measures 12 inches (30cm) high and weighs 9.14 kgs.

Miranda: She measures 12 inches (30cm) high and weighs 6.41 kgs.

These busts were originally designed and made prior to Lindseys “Louise Tea Garden” (LTG) period whilst she was working for Adele Rootstein. The busts were made shortly after her clown statue which was to be the first ever solo project that Lindsey made. The story Lindsey tells is that Adele was leaving the office one afternoon and Lindsey asked “what would you like me to do whilst you are out?” and was told “I don’t know, there’s putty over there, make something.” so Lindsey started moulding and the clown statue was the result. Soon after she would make these busts and the creation of the Lindsey B range was put in motion.

The clown model was first made by Lindsey in 1978 and can be purchased through Sheryl’s Art Deco here. This was another exclusive item not put into production until 2021 and available through Sheryl’s Art Deco.

You can read our blog on the cubist clown statue here.

These early designs were the realisation that started Lindsey towards opening her own company and thus the Lindsey B company was formed in 1984. The Lindsey B range, referred to by Lindsey as her “art deco period” would, rather sadly, only operate for three years which is why we are so excited to be able to offer these art deco style sailor busts.

These models are exclusively available through Sheryl’s Art Deco.
